This is one of a series of lidded jars that pays homage both to my life in Atlanta and my childhood experiences in South Dakota. Both the Confederate Memorial and Mt. Rushmore were designed by Gutzlum Borglum. My own pieces, which favor the significance of animals to our existence, represent my own work with placing animal heads on a textured slab of clay.
